Over 116 years ago, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, established the foundation for sororities for African American women. Since November 23, 1946, Delta Iota Omega Chapter has continued the Sorority’s legacy of excellence while serving picturesque Pensacola, Florida, and its surrounding communities.
I am honored and humbled to serve as the 27th President of Delta Iota Omega Chapter. Those who came before me were agents of change, and they set the standard and paved the way for the celebrated, vibrant, and zealous members who make up our membership. Our chapter’s theme for 2024-2025 is “Fresh, Exciting & Inviting.” That means that we have fun while we work hand in hand to support each other and our communities, and to be of service to all mankind.
Delta Iota Omega Chapter has established a robust community presence that includes community service in Pensacola and the surrounding areas. Our devoted members support academic programs and scholarships that have benefited youth in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, and we also boast signature programs, such as our signature Debutante Ball, Pink in the City, and the Pretty Kicks Sneaker Ball.
Delta Iota Omega Chapter is one of more than 1,000 international chapters that make up the cornerstone of our sorority, which was founded in 1908. Our 2022-2026 administration, led by our International President, Danette Anthony Reed, continues its rich legacy by Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, based on six program initiatives:
